JEN GASH WINS SKY ARTS LANDSCAPE ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2018
Jen was named the winner of the painting competition following the final broadcast on Sky Arts Tuesday, 4th December. She beat fellow competitors Greg Mason and Allan Martin in the final held at Greenwich Park. The judges also took into consideration the finalist’s challenge paintings, with Jen’s detailing the view beneath Brighton Pier. Judge Kate Bryan called it a ‘beautiful, special painting’ with Jen also praised by fellow judges Tai Shan Schierenberg and Kathleen Soriano for the emotional power her paintings held.
As part of her prize, Jen was given a £10,000 commission from the Imperial War Museum to create an artwork to tie in with the centenary of the 1918 armistice. A programme broadcast immediately after the final detailed her journey to Macedonia to visit one of the most unchanged battlefields of the campaign.
